Despite being initially included in the 55-man provisional squad for AFCON 2023, Southampton manager Russel Martin confirmed that Sulemana’s fitness struggles will keep him sidelined. The winger’s persistent injury issues, limiting him to just 13 appearances in the current campaign, have led to his exclusion from the squad. Sulemana, who featured for the Black Stars in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, will be aiming to regain full fitness by the end of January or the beginning of February.
