Ghana’s hopes for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations have been dealt a significant blow as Southampton forward Kamaldeen Sulemana has been ruled out of the tournament due to an ongoing hamstring injury. Despite being initially included in the 55-man provisional squad for AFCON 2023, Southampton manager Russel Martin confirmed that Sulemana’s fitness struggles will keep him sidelined. The winger’s persistent injury issues, limiting him to just 13 appearances in the current campaign, have led to his exclusion from the squad. Sulemana, who featured for the Black Stars in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, will be aiming to regain full fitness by the end of January or the beginning of February. His absence adds to the challenges faced by the Ghanaian team in their quest for continental glory.
