Rising Star Kingsley Gyamfi Earns Praise from Osters IF Sporting Director for Breakout Season

Ghanaian defender Kingsley Gyamfi is making waves in the Swedish Allsvenskan, with Osters IF sporting director Mikael Hjelmberg applauding the young talent’s impressive adaptation and performances during the 2025 season.

The 21-year-old, on loan from Hammarby IF, has featured in six matches for the Vaxjo-based side and has shown exceptional maturity, versatility, and consistency. Originally a centre-back, Gyamfi has been primarily deployed at right-back—yet has looked at home in the role, earning plaudits for his composure and football intelligence.

“He’s done well. He’s a damn good guy and a damn good footballer,” Hjelmberg told Fotbollskanalen. “He’s had to play more at right-back than his natural centre-back role, but he’s handled both positions well. He’s taken the chance.”

Gyamfi’s rise is no surprise to those familiar with his roots. A product of MSK Zilina Africa FC in Accra, his technical grounding and tactical awareness have served him well in adapting to European football.

Osters IF are reportedly keen on keeping him beyond the current loan spell. “There is an option between us and Öster. Ultimately, Kingsley decides where he wants to play,” Hjelmberg added, hinting at the club’s strong interest in a permanent move.

With regular game time and increasing confidence, Gyamfi is quickly emerging as one of Ghana’s most exciting young defensive prospects—drawing attention as a potential future fixture in the Black Stars setup.
