Black Satellites Brace for Tough WAFU B U-20 Test Against Nigeria and Benin – Coach Fatawu Salifu

Assistant coach of Ghana’s U-20 national team, Fatawu Salifu, has acknowledged the daunting challenge that lies ahead for the Black Satellites in the upcoming WAFU Zone B U-20 Cup of Nations.

Ghana has been drawn in Group A alongside West African rivals Nigeria and Benin for the regional tournament, which is scheduled to run from July 10 to 23, 2025.

Reacting to the draw, Coach Salifu told the Ghana FA media team that the group will offer no easy games, particularly with the pedigree of Ghana and Nigeria in youth football.

“We have been waiting keenly to see which countries we’d face, and now that the draw is out, we have Nigeria and Benin in our group,” he said.

“It’s a typical WAFU group. Anytime Ghana and Nigeria are paired, it always promises a very tough contest. But we are focused – our goal is to beat these two countries and advance.”

Reflecting on Ghana’s recent international setbacks, Salifu stressed the need for a strong showing in the tournament to restore pride.

“After the disappointment in Egypt, we regrouped, and now we have a chance to redeem our image. This tournament is a big opportunity to do just that,” he added.
