Igoh Ogbu’s football journey has just reached a major milestone. The 25-year-old Slavia Prague centre-back has hit a career-high market valuation of €11 million, following a breakthrough moment with the Nigerian national team.
Ogbu’s value surged by €1 million in Transfermarkt’s latest update, thanks in part to his recent debut for the Super Eagles. Although he was an unused substitute in Nigeria’s March World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe, he finally earned his first cap in May — and he didn’t disappoint.
In the Unity Cup, Ogbu featured for the full 90 minutes in both Nigeria’s 2–1 win over Ghana and the final against Jamaica, where the Super Eagles emerged victorious. His calm presence, tactical awareness, and leadership on the pitch didn’t go unnoticed.
Back at club level, Ogbu’s form has been just as impressive. He played a central role in Slavia Prague’s dominant title run in the Czech Chance League, making 34 appearances across all competitions, scoring twice, and even captaining the team on several occasions. He also signed a new contract with the Czech giants, affirming his importance to the squad.
Now valued at €11 million, Ogbu is the second most valuable player in both Slavia Prague and the Czech league. He also ranks 16th among Nigerian footballers worldwide — a remarkable achievement for a defender who only recently broke into the international scene.
However, his future in Prague remains uncertain. Despite the contract renewal, manager Jindřich Trpišovský has acknowledged that Ogbu could be on the move this summer if the right offer arrives.
From benchwarmer to Super Eagles starter, and now one of Nigeria’s most valuable players, Igoh Ogbu’s star is undeniably on the rise.
