From Accra’s dusty pitches to Sweden’s top-flight football, Kingsley Gyamfi’s European journey continues to gather momentum.
The promising 21-year-old Ghanaian centre-back has officially sealed a permanent transfer to Östers IF, converting his loan spell into a long-term commitment after impressing in the Allsvenskan. The move sees Gyamfi leave Hammarby IF, who brought him to Europe in early 2023 after he first made his mark in Finland with Ekenäs IF.
Östers IF, impressed with his calm presence and tactical awareness at the back, activated the buy option in his loan deal, reportedly paying over USD 200,000 to secure his services. Despite making only eight appearances this season, Gyamfi showcased composure, strength, and maturity beyond his years—key traits that helped stabilize the Östers defence in a competitive campaign.
Originally signed from MSK Zilina Africa in Accra in 2022, Gyamfi quickly rose through the ranks at Hammarby, joining their U19 setup before earning promotion to the senior team in 2024. Though under contract with Hammarby until 2028, the club opted to release the defender, confident in his next step.
With a multi-year contract now in place at Östers, Gyamfi’s trajectory is on the rise, a testament to the club’s belief in nurturing young, African talent.
This move not only reflects Gyamfi’s personal growth but also underlines Östers IF’s ambition to build a squad with both promise and purpose.
