“Loyal Leader: Andy Yiadom Extends Reading FC Stay Amid Praise from Noel Hunt”

Reading FC’s long-serving captain Andy Yiadom is set to continue his journey with the Royals, signing a one-year contract extension that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2026.

The 33-year-old Ghanaian defender, who has been a cornerstone of the Reading squad since 2018, has amassed over 200 appearances in the blue and white hoops. Despite battling injuries during the 2024/25 season, Yiadom made a strong comeback in the latter half of the campaign and now looks revitalized ahead of the upcoming season.

Manager Noel Hunt couldn’t hide his admiration for the veteran full-back, hailing his influence both on and off the pitch.

> “Yids’ impact both on and off the pitch is second to none, and we are delighted to have him signed up for another season,” Hunt said. “Last year was tough for him, but he came back strongly in the second half and is back for pre-season looking fresh and ready for the fight.”

Yiadom’s extension symbolizes Reading’s trust in experienced leadership as the squad undergoes a period of transition under Hunt. Beyond his defensive solidity, the Ghana international is known for mentoring younger players, playing a key role in shaping the next generation of Royals talent.

With his fitness back to full strength, Yiadom is now focused on leading Reading into a competitive 2025/26 campaign—determined to be a steady presence in the club’s pursuit of progress.
