Road to Brazil 2027: Women’s World Cup Returns with Bigger Dreams and Fierce Contenders

After a euphoric back-to-back Euro triumph, England’s Lionesses are riding high once again — but the focus is already shifting to a bigger prize: the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The next edition of the world’s biggest women’s football tournament is set for June 24 to July 25, 2027, and this time, South America will play host for the very first time, with Brazil confirmed as the proud hosts.

The iconic Estadio do Maracanã in Rio de Janeiro headlines the list of eight host stadiums, as the football-mad nation prepares to welcome 32 of the world’s best teams in a spectacle that promises sun, samba, and stunning football.

England, who narrowly missed out on World Cup glory in 2023 after falling to Spain in the final, are dreaming of redemption. Their recent Euro 2025 victory in Switzerland — followed by a jubilant open-top bus parade through London — has only strengthened their resolve.

But the road to glory won’t be easy.

Qualifying battles loom, with UEFA’s draw scheduled for November 4, and matches kicking off in February 2026. Only Brazil are guaranteed a spot for now, with others, including England, having to fight for one of 11 European slots.

This will be the final Women’s World Cup featuring 32 teams and the classic 8-group format, before expansion to 48 nations in 2031. And speaking of the future — the 2031 edition is heading to the USA and Mexico, while the UK is poised to host in 2035, pending confirmation.

So who’s the favourite to lift the trophy in Brazil?

Arsenal legend Ian Wright didn’t hesitate.
“USA are the favourites, they’re so good! Spain, France – they’ll all be dangerous. If England get anywhere near them, I’d be happy.”

With powerhouse nations sharpening their weapons and rising stars preparing for battle, Brazil 2027 promises to be more than a tournament — it will be a defining chapter in the history of the women’s game.

Let the countdown begin. ⚽
