Liverpool have slapped a £40 million price tag on promising centre-back Jarell Quansah, with growing interest from top European clubs, including Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen.
The 22-year-old defender, who is of Ghanaian heritage, is not officially on the transfer list, but The Athletic reports that the Reds are open to doing business should the right offer arrive.
Though Quansah served mostly as backup to established centre-backs Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konaté last season, his talent hasn’t gone unnoticed. Liverpool’s coaching staff rate him highly, believing he possesses the potential to grow into a top-level defender.
Despite this internal belief, the young defender is reportedly eager for more consistent first-team opportunities — a factor that may influence his decision during the summer window.
“Quansah wants more minutes and could be open to the right move,” the report said, hinting at a mutual understanding between player and club should a suitable bid be tabled.
With the transfer window heating up, Liverpool now face a critical decision — hold on to a future star, or cash in while interest peaks. One thing is certain: Jarell Quansah’s next move could shape the next phase of his career.

From Accra’s dusty pitches to Sweden’s top-flight football, Kingsley Gyamfi’s European journey continues to gather momentum.
The promising 21-year-old Ghanaian centre-back has officially sealed a permanent transfer to Östers IF, converting his loan spell into a long-term commitment after impressing in the Allsvenskan. The move sees Gyamfi leave Hammarby IF, who brought him to Europe in early 2023 after he first made his mark in Finland with Ekenäs IF.
Östers IF, impressed with his calm presence and tactical awareness at the back, activated the buy option in his loan deal, reportedly paying over USD 200,000 to secure his services. Despite making only eight appearances this season, Gyamfi showcased composure, strength, and maturity beyond his years—key traits that helped stabilize the Östers defence in a competitive campaign.
Originally signed from MSK Zilina Africa in Accra in 2022, Gyamfi quickly rose through the ranks at Hammarby, joining their U19 setup before earning promotion to the senior team in 2024. Though under contract with Hammarby until 2028, the club opted to release the defender, confident in his next step.
With a multi-year contract now in place at Östers, Gyamfi’s trajectory is on the rise, a testament to the club’s belief in nurturing young, African talent.
This move not only reflects Gyamfi’s personal growth but also underlines Östers IF’s ambition to build a squad with both promise and purpose.

As the FIFA Club World Cup draws near, South African football legend Teko Modise is confident that Mamelodi Sundowns are ready to bring their distinctive African flair to the global spotlight. With their “Shoe Shine & Piano” style of play — a blend of rhythm, skill, and slick passing — Modise believes the South African champions can rise to the challenge of competing against the world’s elite.
For Modise, the tournament is more than just football; it’s a transformational experience that will test Sundowns’ mettle and force them to evolve. “Facing teams like Borussia Dortmund and Fluminense — who play completely different styles — will challenge Sundowns in ways they haven’t experienced before,” he explains. “They’re used to dominating possession, but now they’ll have to adapt to teams that are just as technical, faster, and tactically sharp.”
Sundowns have been placed in what many call the “Group of Death,” alongside German giants Dortmund, Brazilian champions Fluminense, and South Korea’s Ulsan HD. It’s a daunting group, but Modise views it as a golden opportunity: “It’s about more than winning. It’s about growth — tactically, mentally, physically. It’s about unlearning habits you get away with at home and discovering what works against the best in the world.”
He insists that while adaptation is crucial, Sundowns must not lose their identity: “They have to play their own game — with the confidence and rhythm that define their football. That’s what makes them unique. That’s what makes them African.”
For Modise, this Club World Cup is a chance to change the perception of African football. “Sundowns are not just representing South Africa, but the entire continent. They have the flair, talent, and recent continental success to back it up. If they show courage, confidence, and continue playing the expressive football they’re known for, they’ll do more than compete — they’ll make a statement.”
Drawing on his own experience as one of Africa’s most creative midfielders, Modise sees this tournament as a stage not just for competition, but for expression. “Play like you would in the streets,” he says. “Use your flair to disrupt their rhythm. Let them feel the magic of African football.”
With fixtures fast approaching, the world will soon see if Mamelodi Sundowns can rise to the occasion and redefine the African narrative in world football:

Ghanaian winger Kamaldeen Sulemana could be on his way to Italy as Serie A side Genoa express strong interest in securing his services ahead of the 2025/26 season.
The Italian outfit is actively reinforcing their squad this summer and has identified the Southampton speedster as a prime target. Genoa are said to be impressed by Sulemana’s flair and pace on the flanks and are exploring a deal to bring him to the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.
Sulemana, 23, featured in 26 Premier League games during the just-ended campaign, scoring once and registering a single assist. Despite his efforts, Southampton endured a disastrous season, finishing bottom of the Premier League with just 12 points and suffering relegation to the Championship.
The Ghana international, who is under contract with the Saints until 2027, now faces an uncertain future. While Southampton are reportedly open to selling him, they have set an asking price of at least €10 million. However, it remains unclear whether the club will greenlight a move or retain the winger for their Championship campaign.
With interest growing and the summer window heating up, Kamaldeen’s next move could define a pivotal stage in his career — whether it’s a new adventure in Serie A or redemption in England’s second tier.
