Ghanaian wonderkid John Batigi’s football journey is gathering serious momentum, with the 18-year-old forward sealing an exciting four-year deal with Danish outfit AC Horsens.
Batigi, one of the brightest young prospects emerging from Ghana, is set to take on a new challenge in Denmark after a whirlwind year that’s seen his stock rise rapidly across Europe.
Having made his mark in Ghana’s vibrant youth system—particularly with standout performances for the national U17 team—Batigi embarked on an ambitious European adventure.
A short but explosive spell with Armenian top-flight side FC Van during the 2024-25 season proved a key turning point. In just 17 appearances, the teenage attacker scored seven goals and provided one assist, turning heads with his raw pace, sharp finishing, and relentless energy.
Those performances earned him a move to Bulgarian side Botev Plovdiv, where he continued to develop and caught the eye of scouts from across the continent.
Now, AC Horsens—renowned for nurturing young talent—have swooped in to secure Batigi’s services. The Danish club sees the Ghanaian starlet as a crucial piece in their attacking puzzle as they aim for promotion back to the Superliga.
With an official unveiling expected in the coming days, the next chapter in Batigi’s remarkable rise is set to begin—one that could see him become the latest Ghanaian export to shine on the European stage.

Ghanaian midfielder Kelvin Ofori has set his sights on silverware and European success after completing a move to Slovakian champions Slovan Bratislava.
The 23-year-old signed a three-year deal this summer, joining from rivals Spartak Trnava. Driven by ambition and a hunger for victories, Ofori believes the move to Slovan marks an exciting new chapter in his career.
“I am attracted to European football. I long for victories and trophies,” Ofori shared. “One of the key factors in my decision was a conversation with the head coach. We discussed his vision for me at Slovan, which was very encouraging. I am happy to be here and ready to start this new chapter.”
Slovan Bratislava, regular participants in UEFA Champions League qualifiers, will represent Slovakia again in Europe next season. While Ofori featured in European competition with Trnava last season, he is yet to experience football at Europe’s highest level—a challenge he is eager to embrace.
“I want to show the fans the best of myself and help the team to victories and trophies,” he added. “I believe we can fight for European success again. It would be great to achieve something special for our fans and the whole city. I can’t wait for the new season to begin.”
Having graduated from Ghana’s renowned Right to Dream Academy, Ofori is determined to leave his mark both domestically and in Europe as he embarks on this new journey with Slovan Bratislava.

Bayer Leverkusen have moved swiftly to secure one of Europe’s emerging talents. The German club has activated the €5 million release clause for Christian Kofane, making the transfer effectively a done deal.
Kofane completed his medical earlier today and will put pen to paper on a contract that runs until 2029.
Interestingly, the current plan is not for the young midfielder to move immediately to the BayArena. Instead, he is expected to remain within Erik ten Hag’s squad for now, allowing him continued development under the Dutch manager’s guidance.
This strategic move ensures Leverkusen lock down a promising asset for the future while giving Kofane valuable playing experience at the highest level.

The Black Stars of Ghana may not have lifted the Unity Cup, but captain Jordan Ayew believes the tournament provided valuable lessons and positives as the team looks ahead to crucial World Cup qualifiers.
Ghana, four-time African champions, participated in the four-nation Unity Cup tournament at the Gtech Community Stadium in London. The competition began on a bittersweet note for the Black Stars, who narrowly lost 2-1 to fierce rivals Nigeria in a closely contested semifinal.
Reflecting on that match, Ayew admitted the team was slow to start but improved as the game progressed. “I think we didn’t start well against Nigeria, but the second half was brilliant—just that we didn’t take our chances,” he said in an interview with Ghana FA media.
Determined to end the tournament on a high, Ghana bounced back emphatically in the third-place playoff, dismantling Trinidad and Tobago with a resounding 4-0 victory. The performance not only secured a morale-boosting win but also showcased the team’s attacking flair and defensive solidity.
“We have loads of positives to pick from the two games. We wanted to win the Unity Cup, but we fell short in the first game,” Ayew reflected. “The lads played well; we created chances, scored four goals, and kept a clean sheet, and that is great for us.”
The Unity Cup served as a vital preparatory platform for Ghana as they gear up for the next phase of their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign. The Black Stars will face Chad and Mali in Matchdays 7 and 8 this September—matches that could define their road to the global stage.

Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew has heaped praise on the new faces in Ghana’s squad following their impressive showing at this month’s Unity Cup tournament in London.
Ghana, one of four nations invited to the tournament held at the Gtech Community Stadium, had to make do without several key players. Head coach Otto Addo handed debut call-ups to five fresh talents, signaling a new wave of opportunity for the national team.
Although the Black Stars stumbled in their semifinal clash, falling 2-1 to fierce rivals Nigeria, they bounced back emphatically. A dominant 4-0 win over Trinidad and Tobago secured third place and, more importantly, boosted morale ahead of crucial World Cup qualifiers.
Speaking to the Ghana FA media, Ayew — who currently plies his trade with Leicester City — lauded the newcomers for their seamless adaptation.
“The other players couldn’t make it, but in Ghana we have a lot of talent, and the new players showed their quality in the two matches,” Ayew said. “There is always a need for us to try some new players. We trained only twice before the first game, but the boys looked ready, sharp, and confident in the game against Trinidad and Tobago, and that showed in our performance.”
Looking ahead, the skipper emphasized the importance of unity and strength as Ghana prepares for the next stage of their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification campaign.
“Hopefully, we have all the players back in the subsequent games so that we can fight for the points in the World Cup qualifiers,” he added.
Ghana will resume their World Cup qualifying journey in September, traveling to face Chad before hosting Mali in Matchdays 7 and 8. With young stars stepping up and experienced heads returning, the Black Stars aim to build momentum on their road to the global stage.
