By admin Former Ghana midfielder Laryea Kingston has urged coach Otto Addo to adopt a more attacking strategy for the Black Stars as they prepare for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Drawn in Group F alongside Sudan, Angola, and Niger, Ghana must secure the top spot to advance to the tournament in Morocco.
Kingston, who witnessed the draw, believes an attacking approach is superior to a conservative one.
“Looking at Otto Addo’s last two games with the Black Stars, we got very good results,” Kingston told 3Sports. “I think he should still stick to his plan. I know a lot of people were not happy with the performance [against Mali and CAR]. Performance is very key. Winning is great, but you can’t keep winning without good performances. Otto needs to address this.”
Kingston continued, emphasizing attacking dominance: “He should come into the games aiming to dominate play and secure results. The approach should be simple: perform well and deliver for the country. He shouldn’t be burdened by pressure. The recent results can boost his confidence, but the first-half performances haven’t been convincing.”
“The first halves of the last two games were underwhelming, but the second halves showed a clear transformation. My suggestion is to approach the next games with an attacking mindset, replicating the positive second-half performances,” he concluded.
Kingston, who previously managed the Black Starlets but resigned after their WAFU U17 semi-final defeat, remains invested in the senior team’s success.
