Black Stars defender Mohammed Salisu paid a courtesy call on Ghana’s former President, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, at his residence in Accra, where he presented him with a replica AS Monaco away jersey as a sign of respect and appreciation.
The 26-year-old centre-back, currently enjoying the off-season in Ghana, took the opportunity to engage with the former head of state during his stay. The gesture highlights Salisu’s humility and his continued connection to home, despite his rising profile in European football.
Salisu’s 2024/25 campaign with AS Monaco was marred by injuries, which affected his consistency and playing time. Although he started the season impressively—earning plaudits for his performance against FC Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League—fitness issues saw him miss a large part of the season. Nevertheless, he featured in 24 matches and scored three goals for the Ligue 1 side, also known as “The Rocks.”
Amid ongoing transfer speculation, Salisu remains focused on a strong comeback in the upcoming season. He was notably absent from Ghana’s squad for the recent Unity Cup in London, as head coach Otto Addo opted to explore other defensive options.
