The Ghana Football Association (GFA) will officially launch the 2026/27 Colts Football Season on Tuesday, September 15TH, at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram, as part of efforts to strengthen grassroots football and develop the next generation of Ghanaian football talent.
The launch, is scheduled to commence at 3:00pm which marks the fifth consecutive annual ceremony and is expected to bring together football administrators such as the Regional Football Association (RFA) Chairmen, alongside members of the Executive Council and members of the National Juvenile Committee and other national football stakeholders to outline the direction of the new season.
According to the GFA’s announcement, the event will focus on promoting grassroots football and creating opportunities for young players to develop their abilities through organised competitions and development initiatives.
The Colts Football Season remains an important part of Ghana’s football development structure, providing young players with opportunities to gain competitive experience and progress towards higher levels of the game.
The GFA has continued to support grassroots development through investments in coaching, equipment and juvenile football programmes, including initiatives backed by the FIFA Forward Programme.
These efforts are intended to improve the conditions in which young footballers train and compete, while helping local clubs nurture emerging talent.
The launch also provides an opportunity for stakeholders to assess the progress of juvenile football and consider measures to improve the organisation and competitiveness of the Colts game.
With grassroots football serving as a foundation for the development of future professional players, the 2026/27 season is expected to play a role in identifying and nurturing emerging talents across Ghana.
The effectiveness of these initiatives will depend on sustained investment, quality coaching, regular competitions and stronger support for juvenile clubs in Ghana.
